TORONTO (September 28th, 2011) – Wine Access magazine won a silver medal in the Sports and Leisure category for its December/January 2011 issue at the Canadian Newsstand Awards in Toronto.

Launched in 2002, the Canadian Newsstand Awards is a unique awards program that takes into account the title's newsstand sales performance. Sales results are worth 50% of the final score, while the other 50% is based on qualitative factors judged by a panel. In 2011 there were 8 categories in which there were 30 finalists named.

“We are thrilled with this silver medal win,” said Gary Davies, publisher of Wine Access magazine. “After being short-listed for three straight years at the Canadian Newsstand Awards, it’s great to finally walk away with some hardware.”

Wine Access is Canada’s Wine Magazine, distributed to subscribers across the country and available bi-monhtly on paid newsstands throughout Canada. The December/January issue each year focuses on the winners of the Wine Access Canadian Wine Awards.
