CALGARY, AB (Oct. 11, 2011) – Wine Access magazine reveals the winners of its 2011 International Value Wine Awards in the October/November issue on stands now.
These prestigious and highly sought-after awards are the biggest and best-organized competition of their kind. As a result, Wine Access’s International Value Wine Awards issue is the ultimate resource for Canadian consumers of wine — a reference that is consulted in homes, restaurants and stores year-round.
For 2011, the awards attracted a record 1,132 wine entries from 17 countries. More than 250 wines received awards.
To be eligible, a wine must be sold somewhere in Canada for $25 or less. Winning wines are entitled to display the Wine Access International Value Wine Award bottle stickers.
Held during the third week of June in Calgary, the five-day quest to find the “best value” wines for sale anywhere in Canada is a complex undertaking involving 25 judges from across the country, drawn from the ranks of Canada’s top sommeliers, wine writers and bloggers.
Awards include Category Champion, Judges’ Choice and Killer Values (25 wines which have top scores and are priced at $15 or less).
Home to Canada’s most celebrated and respected wine critics, led by editor-in-chief Anthony Gismondi, Wine Access magazine is the last word on wine in Canada. With more than 100 new reviews in each issue and wine and food tips aplenty, Wine Access embraces all levels of wine consumers equally and enthusiastically from the insanely passionate to the weekend tippler
